Food! Finally!

After 10 days of not getting a single thing to eat, Presley finally got to eat on Friday! It's only 3mL every 3 hours, but it's better than nothing! She stayed on that amount through the weekend and finally got bumped up to 6mL every 3 hours today since she was tolerating it well. They've also started to cut back on her IV nutrition, so she's on her way to moving to the step-down unit with her sister!
Paige on the other hand..... she took a step forward and a step back this weekend. She's now eating about half of her feedings with a bottle. Since they changed her feeding tube from her mouth to her nose, her oxygen levels have been going down intermittently. They ended up putting her on 1/4 of a Liter of oxygen through her nose. It's not a whole lot of oxygen. The Dr. thinks that with her eating from a bottle twice a day and trying to maintain her temperature on her own with out the help of the incubator is just wearing her out. She's still very tiny and is just working a little too hard.

We haven't really gotten a good picture of the babies side by side. The last time they were close to each other was when they were in the same incubator on the airplane. They've been separated every since. Here's the best I can do... Paige is on the left and Presley is on the right. Do you think they look alike??

This is the start of my first week here alone! Jon will be coming back and forth to visit when he can. I'll stay pretty occupied with the babies though...especially since Paige is getting a bottle at 9am and 9pm. I try to do as much of the care for the girls as I can. I change their diapers, give their baths, dress them, check their temperatures....all the little things just to help the nurses out and make me feel involved in some way. I'm still having a hard time feeling like a mom and trying to bond with them when I go to see them. I still feel like I'm a visitor. I can't just pick them up whenever I want to or normal things like that. I guess we'll just have to make up for it when we're home!
