This was another big week for both of the girls! We'll start with Presley.... She has been doing very well with all of her feedings and is almost getting as much as Paige! The Dr. finally thought she was big enough this week to start taking a bottle once a day. So far she's off to a better start than Paige was! She's been taking about half through the bottle then gets pretty tired and gets the rest through her tube. She seems a lot more interested in eating than Paige did when she started.

Presley was also allowed to start wearing clothes. She's been doing well maintaining her temperature on her own and doesn't need the heat from her isolette. She's not quite big enough yet to get out of her isolette and into an open crib, but she's getting close. She's still so tiny that preemie sized sleepers pretty much swallow her. I found some onesies that are pretty close to fitting her. Sometimes I think baby doll clothes would be more fitting!

She definitely is "berry sweet"!

Paige had a very busy week. She got moved out of her isolette and into an open crib.... and it's pink!

She's definitely ready to get rid of her oxygen and feeding tube. She's constantly pulling and tugging at them. She actually got a good grip on her feeding tube and pulled it all the way out the other day. Putting it back in was not so fun.... She also had her hearing screen yesterday and passed! We're so thankful she doesn't have any hearing problems. Presley will have hers when she gains a little more weight. Next week is the eye exams. They are at risk for having some retinopathy because of their birth weights and being premature, but hopefully everything will be fine.
One of Paige's liver enzymes (GGT) has been elevated for no apparent reason the last 2 weeks. The first time it came back high the Dr. thought it was just a lab error, but this week it came back slightly higher. She had an ultrasound to check out her liver and gallbladder and everything looked okay. The Dr. just can't figure out why it's elevated and none of her other labs are. She's having it rechecked this week and if it's any higher then they will consult a GI doctor to see what's going on. She's not jaundiced and it eating and pooping well so it's just odd that it's elevated. The Dr. said she would expect Presley's to be elevated since she was on IV nutrition for so long, but Paige was only on it for a few days. Drinking alcohol is a common cause of a high GGT, so I don't know what kind of wild parties they're having in the NICU while we're gone....

Paige loves her little sissy...

Here's their most recent side by side shot. Paige's face looks so chubby next to Presley! Tonight she weighed 3 lbs. 15.5 ounces.... almost 4lbs! Presley's still trailing behind at 3lb. 3 oz. but they're starting to fortify my milk for her with extra calories so she'll fatten up soon.
And here's how Paige was when we tucked her in tonight.. apparently she's tired of having her picture taken! Already a diva...
