Well......a lot has happened in the past month. We've finally moved in to our new house! Everything worked out in the end.... we made our deadline on our loan by less than an hour. It was a little stressful watching each potential closing date go by, but we survived! We closed on Friday the 13th.....not the day I would have picked, but we didn't have a choice!
Then on that Sunday our builder wanted to hold an open house. He mentioned it when we first started negotiations for our house and we were hoping he forgot it, but he didn't... Jon left because he couldn't take strangers walking through our house. I stayed for a little while waiting on a friend of my mom's. Of course it had rained for the past 3 days before that and I was very concerned about people tracking in mud so I bought a box of shoe covers from work and made everyone wear them upon entering. It was interesting hearing everyone's comments about our house. We left it totally empty except for some curtains. I didn't want to have our new furniture in there yet with people walking around. Most of the comments were great but one man's comment at the end kinda got to me. He was at least 65+ years old. First of all, it was after 3pm and the open house was supposed to be over. Then, the refused to put on shoe covers......Then he walked in and said, "This house looks like a grandma's house!" I couldn't believe he said that!! I was standing right next to him. I didn't say anything. I just kept my mouth shut. Oh well, I guess it's hard not to take criticism personally on something you've been working on for 6 months. I'll post pictures as soon as I find which box I put my camera in...
